Pacific Dunes Golf Course PDF

Monteath & Powys has tackled some challenging projects. One of the most complex was the Pacific Dunes Golf Course and residential development at Medowie.

The company was involved from the project concept to completion for both the Golf Course and the adjoining subdivision.

Interestingly, two of the three Monteath & Powys project managers, Robert Monteath and Neil O'Toole, play little or no golf.

Neil played at Pacific Dunes once and stated that his poorly developed golf skills did not do the course justice.

Greg Burnitt has played the course several times and wished that many of the trees on the side of  the greens and on the fairways had not been left there, particularly the ones that blocked his shots.

Neil commented that the Pacific Dunes project presented a number of challenges.

"The titling scheme was arduous because the developers wanted community title for the
subdivision" he said. "This involved extra work with planning and gaining Council approvals."

There were major challenges with supplying water and sewerage to the subdivision and the golf course.

To add to these complications there was a land swap between the developers and National Parks and Wildlife.

Fortunately the areas that were swapped, which were almost identical in size, bordered one another.

There were numerous associated professionals involved in the project, including hydraulics engineers, a reticulation designer, water and sewerage designer, landscapers, architects and golf designers.

Liaising and reaching consensus with all of them was an arduous and time consuming process.

At the end, it was all worth it because the championship quality golf course has earned rave reviews from everyone who has played it. Also, there has been keen interest in the sales of the housing estate.
